In the Steam library, right-click MECCHA CHAMELEON and open Properties. Select Compatibility. The compatibility tool is IgniteX Direct. Open the Graphics menu to see the available renderer choices. The panel also shows Metal HUD, MSync and other settings. This silent recording demonstrates the settings interface, not a gameplay benchmark. Open the recording directly.

One library.
A setup for every game.

A game that works best with one graphics backend may need a different setup from the next. Direct puts those choices in Properties > Compatibility, where you already manage your Steam games.

Choose a renderer, adjust the available options, then restart the game to use your saved settings.

In the Graphics menu

IgniteX default (GPTK 4)
Use the current Direct package's default graphics route.
DXMT
Choose the Direct3D 11 to Metal route for a supported game.
D3DMetal (GPTK 4)
Use Apple's graphics translation with your own imported Game Porting Toolkit.

A renderer choice does not guarantee that a game will run. Start with the game compatibility catalog and its recorded tests.

The useful controls, in the same place.

Options depend on the selected graphics route. Change one setting at a time and test the result in your game.

From IgniteX
to your Steam library.

Enable Direct once in IgniteX. After that, choose the graphics settings for each game inside Steam for Mac.

Check your Mac first
  1. Enable IgniteX Direct

Open IgniteX, choose Steam and select Enable in Steam…. You can also find Direct in IgniteX Settings. Complete the readiness checks and import your supported GPTK package when prompted.

  2. Open Steam for macOS

Save and close any running games before activation. Let IgniteX reopen Steam when prompted, then select a supported Windows game in your library.

  3. Choose your graphics settings

Right-click the game, open Properties > Compatibility and choose IgniteX Direct. Select your renderer under Graphics and adjust the options you need.

  4. Install and press Play

Use Steam to install and launch the game. Your saved settings apply to its next launch. First launch can take longer while required game components are prepared.

A quick check before you start.

These are the requirements for IgniteX Direct, which are higher than those of the classic IgniteX workflow.

Your Mac
Apple Silicon
macOS 26 or later
Rosetta 2 installed
Your Steam

A supported client build
A supported 64-bit Windows game

Your own GPTK 4 beta 2

Required for current Direct setup

IgniteX checks whether your Steam installation is supported before enabling Direct. A new Steam client update may need a Direct update. No CrossOver installation is required.

Apple's Game Porting Toolkit is obtained separately from Apple, under Apple's terms. IgniteX does not bundle, redistribute or automatically download GPTK or D3DMetal. The current Direct package requires the import even if you later select DXMT.

A few things
worth knowing.

I already own IgniteX. How do I get Direct?

Direct is included in 2.0.0-beta.30, build 2000074. You do not need to buy IgniteX again. From build 2000072, choose Check for Updates… in IgniteX.

For build 2000070 and older, use a one-time manual update for immediate access. Open your original Lemon Squeezy receipt or My Orders, select your IgniteX order and download its latest installer from Files. Save and close your games, quit Steam and IgniteX, then replace only the IgniteX app in Applications. Keep your existing game environments, saves, settings and license. Do not use the launcher or game uninstall actions. See the installation guide if you need help.

After updating the app, enable Direct and complete its separate requirements check. Existing Windows Steam games and saves are not automatically migrated into the Direct workflow.

Does this make Windows games native Mac games?

No. Steam is the native macOS app. Supported Windows games still run locally through IgniteX's compatibility runtime. Direct brings the game settings and launch flow into that Steam app.

Will every Windows game work?

Direct currently supports 64-bit Windows games. For 32-bit titles, use the classic IgniteX workflow where compatible. Compatibility depends on the game, its graphics requirements, your Mac and any online services or anti-cheat. Direct does not bypass anti-cheat. Check the catalog and recorded tests for your game before purchasing.

What happens to my existing games and saves?

Enabling Direct does not migrate your existing Windows Steam environment into Direct. The two workflows remain separate, and save transfer depends on the game. Use Turn off Direct in Steam… to restore Steam without deleting Direct's local games, saved progress or game settings. A Windows game still needs a compatible runtime to run.

Do I need another subscription?

No. IgniteX is $6.99 as a one-time purchase. Games are purchased separately. Direct does not require a separate CrossOver installation or subscription.
